Linux Server Administrator
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, including Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and Rocky Linux.
- Perform operating system installation, server provisioning, configuration, and system hardening.
- Configure SSH access, key-based authentication, and securely manage remote servers using Termius or similar SSH clients.
- Install and configure web servers such as Nginx and Apache, databases including MySQL and MariaDB, and other required software packages.
- Manage IPv4 and IPv6 networking, DNS, routing, and firewall configurations.
- Configure and troubleshoot HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS5, and reverse proxy services.
- Monitor server health, CPU, memory, storage, and network performance.
- Write and maintain Python and Bash scripts to automate server administration, log processing, monitoring, and repetitive tasks.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, and Rocky Linux.
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers and web servers such as Nginx and Apache.
- Good understanding of SSH, Termius, PuTTY, and remote server administration.
- Experience with Python and Bash scripting for server automation and administrative tasks.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, and general networking concepts.
- Experience configuring HTTP and SOCKS proxies, reverse proxies, and firewalls including UFW, iptables, and nftables.
- Familiarity with Git, version control, cloud servers, virtualization, and infrastructure management.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and hosting providers such as AWS, Azure, DigitalOcean, Vultr, and Hetzner.
- Knowledge of email server administration, PowerMTA, and DNS authentication records including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC is an advantage.
- Understanding of VPNs, proxy infrastructure, and basic cybersecurity best practices.
